I seem to recall reading somewhere that the rim thickness on 41 mag Starline brass was larger (thicker) than other brands. Anyone have Starline and another brand and could do a quick measurement and give some feedback?
Never heard of that, and really don't see how it could be thicker than the SAAMI maximum without causing problems in certain guns with minimum or near-minimum headspace dimensions.
I've reloaded .41 Magnum since 1978, and never found that to be true. Whatever headstamp is on the brass in that caliber gets loaded, and I've never encountered one that wouldn't fit either my shellholder or my guns, both revolver and rifle.
Thanks orionengnr - that was extactly the answer I was looking for. In the mean time I talked to Starline (now that it isn't the middle of the night) and they produce to .052-.055 and SAMI spec is .049-.059.
