Rimfire scope recommendations

I’ve looked through a couple, dad has one mounted on his 10/22 and it kills squirrels plenty dead. Not great glass but clear and priced affordably.

Used my bore sight with this rifle today and very concerned that I ran out of adjustment way before I was even close to zero. we'll see when I get this to the range...
Check that your barrel retention screws are tight, your mounts havent pointed your scope crooked (as dovetail mounts are more prone to cause that in my experience.), and then look thru the bore and make sure your boresighter isnt lying to you.

Bore sight isn't lying as it does the job on everything else fine.

It's probably the scope mount

Recently I've come to be in possession of a CZ 457 Premium 22 LR bolt action . Although it is a production line rifle it is a ( IMHO ) , finely balanced , smooth in operation , and well finished . My frustration is selecting a " correct " scope . I'm looking for a weight that fits the size of the gun for target shooting , plinking and small game . Recommendations ? Comments ?
Leupold freedom rimfire

I put a 25.00 Bushnell 4X on my Marlin model 60 in 2013. Both have served me well. The scope hasn't lost zero yet.

It isn't in vogue to recommend inexpensive glass. ....While I don't begrudge anyone the more expensive options I have had excellent results from Centerpoint scopes on .22 rimfires. Also BSA, Weaver and others. While best quality glass is still best people forget how much the inexpensive stuff has improved...in some cases.

Unless you're doing long range target work a 300.00 Leupold will do everything you need. On a .22 you can get by with a lot less.

I’d disagree on this point. I shoot my rimfires 10x more often than most of my centerfire rifles therefore they deserve great glass IMO.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. My 25.00 Bushnell on my Marlin 60 does just as good of a job as any of my other scopes would. The only difference would be adjustable magnification which I really don't need on a rimfire. As far as centerfire scopes go I've got a Philippine made Simmons 44 mag that's been on my deer rifle for 30 years or better. It's never lost zero or fogged up. I can see small animals in dark woods I can't see with naked eyes. My Leupold and Swift scopes have better glass but not that much better.

Having a wife, 6 kids, and a full time job affords me only so much time to hunt and shoot. Having gone through too many broken cheap scopes I simply won’t abide another.

Simple Simmons $30 scope. Put 3 on 3 kids’ rifles. 1 failed immediately, other two took a half hour and box of ammo each to zero. Twist the turret for another yardage and chased some more due to horrendous tracking. The only bright spot; all 3 rifles were .22s. Can you imagine wasting a box of .338 or .50 BMG?

There’s more than better glass quality to a good scope and sometimes the cheapest ones are the ones you can’t afford.

I actually really like the Philippines and Korean made Simmons.
Have not had good results with certain scopes lines, namely the 8 points and Blasers, but ive also found the 22 Mag series of scopes to be good for the cost, tho if trying to dial any besides the older one with the target turrets, they arnt going to track even close.

.....tho i havent bought a "current" production simmons since 2013/14.

Currently Simmons scopes are made in Taiwan. Those aren't much good. Mine was made in the Philippines. For a centerfire scope now my go to would be a 300.00 Leupold.

Nice rifle! I just picked up a CZ 457 Pro Varmint in 22LR and I put Leupold 11mm dovetail mount/rings on it and a Simons 3x-10x 44Mag on it as well. I also put a Magpul RS1 sling on it and a Caldwell bipod for SquirrelSniperTM status. It is begging me to shoot it but I have more important stuff that comes up when I even think about it...

If I had a new CZ rifle in my paws there would be nothing more important than getting to the range. Treat yo self and shoot it already!
