The load I was using of HP38 with the 115’s is a proven load with the particular pistol. Last year, I shot a 585-39x to win a regional and 10 Distinguished points with the same pistol in the production semi-auto match. A month later, I took high non-Distinguished in a State championship and garnered another 8-points towards my Distinguished badge. I was trying to see what had happened to the gun, ammo combo.... or, was it ME... BOTH loads are proven in other guns too.
My PPC-9 5” that got me called “full of green garden humus” by a deceased former moderator will shoot 1-hole groups at 25yds with either load, provided an accurate bullet is seated in a quality case. It’s not “picky”, as long as it’s a suitable powder. What’s ironic, is that I shoot better scores with the 6” gun, though it’s no where nearly as accurate, but is a half pound heavier, with all that mass hanging out front...
HP38 remains a favorite of mine. In .38spl loads, I haven’t found its equal, though some come close, notably Bullseye.
