I bought a new Rock Island 1911 this past weekend for just a hair over $400. I got the commander model(4" bbl & full size frame), it came with one Novak's 8 round magazine. My wife and I put 150 remington UMC 230 grn hardball through it. She had one stovepipe, but I had no malfunctions. It shot well enough, making a big ragged hole about an inch and a half left of POA at 7 yards. I'm going out this weekend to put the screws to it, I'll let you know how it ran next week.
It's a very plain and simple 1911, much like my springfield mil-spec, except in a 4" version. So far I'm happy with it, it's plane jane pretty, and it didn't cost a fortune. After 150 rounds it's worked well, but I'll have a better informed opinion of it for next week after I torture it this weekend, so stay tuned for more info...
