Hi guys,
First i want to say Merry Christmas to everyone.

So here's the thread,
I know that this is in no way a new subject for many
the 1911 platform is very common to most, but not to me.
If any of you guys have seen any of my post on handguns there all revolvers :D I just love them.
I just recently bought a Rock Island 1911(compact). I saw one at a show and for the money it seemed like a great deal .They seem to get good wright-ups to. Now this might seem like a dumb question and if it is i apologize
inadvance.
I want to change the grips for something better, looks/function My question is are all the 1911 grips standard or do i need to buy grips just for this make/size of 1911? if I do can anyone recomend a site.

Also some mag recomendations would be great too.
So not to leave out anyone please post your pic's, we all love pic's.
I would love to see your tricked out 1911's Rock Island or not :D

Any grips made for a compact 1911 (e.g., the original Colt Officer's ACP) should interchange.

Nice buy. Mind telling us how much? I just grabbed a fullsize RIA 1911 for a very good price at a local fun shop. The damn thing looks brand new.

I want to change my grips too, but I'm going to fire it first w/the factory grips. They may work for me afterall!

For grips I like the slimline Aluma grips, their aluminum and fit my hand really well. It's not a compact but the pic attached is of the black tactical checkering. I just recently got a High Standard Compact and it'll be getting the same grips after the holidays.
As for mags, I've had good luck with the Kimber Kimpro pro tac mags. Their a bit more expensive, but I don;t believe in going cheap on mags. Have almost 800 or 900 on one for my full sized Rock Island and its as smooth and reliable as the day I bought it. Also comes with a spare metal base plate and 2 different size plastic bumper plates. I like them so much as soon as I bought the High Standard, I hit the local gunstore for a Kimber mag for itLOL

I know this thread is a little old but if you plan on shooting the gun a lot get some Hogue 43000 rubber grips. The have the finger grooves and makes shooting this gun much easier. I have these on my fullsize Rock (actually Hogue 45000s) and ordered a set of the 43000s yesterday for a Rock Compact 1911 I just became the owner of.

took a couple of weeks to get my RIA 1911 to the range , my best friend and i as well as my 9 yr old son loaded up the range bag with my gp a rough rider and 300 + rounds of .45 ,357, and .22 lr for the boy. We had a blast with the Rock ,not one problem more accurate then i expected too. Great value and well made i can see why so many like them, glad i bought one

Same gun as the Compact Tactical, but with a different stamp on the slide. Refinished it myself with Moly Resin
