Ron Paul is Bill Maher's hero...

...and Bill Maher was a jerk last time he interviewed Ron Paul. Maybe he changed his mind this time around, or he is just going against the grain because Ron Paul did and Bill wants higher ratings. We'll see...

Maybe Maher has seen the light. He has been claiming for years that he is a libertarian, but then when you listen to what he believes, he is just a dumb ass liberal. A confused young man, you might say. Most of these guys like Maher have the intelligence to understand freedom, but they also have the training to believe that they are not worthy of being free and that if free they will go wild, so they present this screwed up system of beliefs that attracts them to the rebellion without really understand the fundamentals, and without really letting go of the idea that they need someone in power to control everyone else. He is the product of over controlling parents who never let him free to manage his own life.

I think he probably is still a schmuck, and when it comes down to it he will opt for Hillary or Obama over Ron Paul.

Maher is a statist. And he was a jerk to Paul last time he was on. Maybe he did not know he was for real.

Don't expect a serious endorsement from him, he wants Clinton or Obama.

Maher is nothing more than someone who gets paid to say things on tv. It does not matter one iota what he says as long as it is controversial and people keep on watching him. Another talking head.:barf:

I tried to give him a chance.
That one episode he was discussing the Randy Weaver situation and stated he was glad Randy Weaver was taken care of becuase he was spreading hate and violence as a Neo Nazi.
At that time I lost all respect for him as a human being.
Would it be high road to say Bill's wife and child should be killed because I think he is spreading hate?
That guy makes me sick.

One of my good friends is a Maher fan. I don't get it, personally. The main thing that irritates me about Maher is that he tries to come across as some libertarian, open minded pundit. He doesn't necessarily say he is a libertarian (that would, obviously, be an outright lie), but he tries to imply it.

If I had to categorize Maher, he would be a card-carrying ACLU liberal; that is, he separates himself very slightly from modern liberals in that he is somewhat politically incorrect to the fine point that his comments can be socially insensitive all around, thus earning an aggressive "1st amendment first" mentality as defended by the ACLU.

An "endorsement"? Seems more like a "condemnation"! Bill Maher doesn't have any heroes....other than, perhaps himself! He's a has-been actor, has-been comedian, and only has a job because he's within the parameters of what the leftist/elitist "Hollywood" folks like to hear! Nice nose and haircut, though! HAHA!

R127, I'm with you.

As an aside, I have to note that this is an apparent oxymoron: "reality of libertarian politics".

Libertarian != "I wish pot were legal."

from lp.org:

Drug prohibition does more to make Americans unsafe than any other factor. Just as alcohol prohibition gave us Al Capone and the mafia, drug prohibition has given us the Crips, the Bloods and drive-by shootings. Consider the historical evidence: America's murder rate rose nearly 70% during alcohol prohibition, but returned to its previous levels after prohibition ended. Now, since the War on Drugs began, America's murder rates have doubled. The cause/effect relationship is clear. Prohibition is putting innocent lives at risk.

What's more, drug prohibition also inflates the cost of drugs, leading users to steal to support their high priced habits. It is estimated that drug addicts commit 25% of all auto thefts, 40% of robberies and assaults, and 50% of burglaries and larcenies. Prohibition puts your property at risk. Finally, nearly one half of all police resources are devoted to stopping drug trafficking, instead of preventing violent crime. The bottom line? By ending drug prohibition Libertarians would double the resources available for crime prevention, and significantly reduce the number of violent criminals at work in your neighborhood.
