Ron Paul Mega-Thread (Mergeness)

One conclusion I arrived at while watching that interview was that the other
GOP candidates are going to have to shut Ron Paul up, censor him, whatever it takes. He cannot be allowed to get too much exposure. He makes too much
sense. He's too honest. People hear him, like and agree with him. He's a mortal
threat to everything the Republicrats stand for and will likely catch on if
too many people listen to him.

Paul needs to attempt act more like that in the debates. Any chance he gets he needs to express his ideas for things here at home.

Been watching the Daily Show for years, love it! Not as good as Colbert but still one of the few great shows on tv.

I have to say that Ron Paul was really great! I wasn't a huge Ron Paul supporter until I saw him on the show last night and I was sold! Stewart was also very supportive of him and I think that will go a long way towards helping Paul gain support. Great interview, great promo for Ron Paul! :)

I was having a very bad day until I saw that show and man was it a breath of fresh air:D

Can't wait to see him on the Colbert Report! Paul has the right idea, appearing on these shows is going to boost his popularity and help put his name out there.

for those of us supporting ron paul, there are free signs you can print out as well as brochures at his site http://www.ronpaul2008.com/get-involved/

PLEASE print these out, put them on your lawn, put them on major streets, pass the brochures out at work (if this is ok with your boss), etc, etc, etc. Everyone I've met who's looked at Ron's website and voting record has said they want him for president, we just need to spread the word...

Folks are just sick of ALL the politics.
I was reading that is one of the reasons so many people believe Ron Paul is unelectable. He doesn't play politics and won't horse-trade for votes.

I know I'm sick of all the politics but you have to wonder if everyone else really is when the most popular candidates in the polls are those who get away with things like "I support the 2nd Amendment and the Assault Weapons Ban" (Romney) or "Abortion is wrong and I'm pro-choice" (Rudy).

Those are what were handed out at a local meeting of Paul supporters. If you guys think he's worth supporting, then I would encourage you to DO something about it. Check for local groups here, and just tell people about him. I've converted a couple just in the past week..

Why I have been saying its time for "conservatives" and the rest of the GOP to start lookin the mirror..........what do you want from this party?......what do you want from Govt?

If the current GOP voters still go for "the front runner".....because hes the "front runner" then the party's platform is dead.

Do you want to trade principle (if thats still matters to you) for a "winnable" compromising frontrunner......then there is your party.

And dont get pissed when the compromising of core values continues.......I dont want to hear it. Period.

Ron Paul on The Tucker Carlson Show

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mb7aiM9K9Q

At the very end Tucker Carlson told Ron Paul that he wanted to have him back regularly to teach the viewers about freedom. When was the last time someone said that to a politican? And Carlson is not even a libertarian.

Brief Overview of Congressman Paul’s Record: (From www.ronpaul2008.com)

He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.

He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war.

He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.

Yeah, the man's got my vote.

To anyone who would say that's throwing my vote away, I'd respond with voting any other way would be throwing it away.

You know, I post almost all of these on myspace, and lately, I've been getting quite a few people coming up to me and starting to talk about Ron Paul. Just today, I had 3 different people ask me about him. I think he just might have a chance. :D

EDIT: How about a Ron Paul SECTION... :D

one has to wonder... how many ppl have shared the same thought...

"Ron Paul has no chance. I'd just be wasting my vote."

1-million? 2-million? 4-million? 8-million? 16-million?

who knows...

barring some incredible act of mischief, I'm voting for Ron Paul.

Can anybody imagine what Paul could do if he had Perot type money? Hell, even a fraction of Perot's money combined with the message of Liberty at home and non-interventionism abroad would shake this country's political system to its core. Such a (badly needed) shock to the current elites and the system they control would rival or even exceed the ones caused by George Wallace in the 60's and 70's, Huey Long in the 1930's or, even further back, the revolt of the Populists in the latter part of the the 19th century. (Think William Jennings Bryan, Tom Watson and numerous counterparts in the South, West and Midwest in the 1890's and the early 20th century.)

i'm glad he's been on a lot of these interviews, i think it really gets his views out there, and i hope more people are taking notice...

Yea, +100 for Ron Paul :D

Barring some incredible act that will give him the republican party nomination, you won't be voting for ron paul, at least most likely not in any meaningful way. I do think running someone like ron paul would get all sorts of interesting new/uncommon voters voting republican too. I honestly think its the only chance they have and if they do the same old same old they're dead for sure. Sadly I don't think they'd agree with me.

If Ron Paul had piles of money, do you think he is the type of person to blow it all on TV ads for his campaign?

Ron Paul campaign raising amazing sums of money

GOP Ron Paul - Five Million Dollar Man?
Thursday, June 07, 2007 - FreeMarketNews.com

Congressman Ron Paul’s donations have moved up - not by hundreds of thousands - but by millions as a result of his debate performances and groundswell of support on the Internet and in New Hampshire, observers close to the campaign say.

The move is especially impressive since as of March 31, 2007, he had perhaps $500,000 on hand (see candidate estimates below).

FMNN had previously reported – after the GOP presidential debate in South Carolina - that candidate Ron Paul’s (R-Tex) donations, large and small, had nearly doubled.

http://www.freemarketnews.com/WorldNews.asp?nid=42336

Now observers close to the campaign are revealing – with some astonishment – that donations to the campaign in recent weeks have pushed the total up to perhaps $4 or $5 million.

“That’s a huge number at this stage,” says one observer. “That starts to put him in a position where he can compete – state by state, anyway – with the major candidates.”

And this source added, “Of course, it’s hard to tell because the numbers keep changing – and thus nobody at the campaign has a firm count, at least not hour to hour. But the numbers are big. It’s definitely over three, probably over four, and if it hasn’t hit five yet, it will soon.”

At this rate, say observers, Ron Paul could have something like $10 million in his coffers inside of several months, and the total could keep growing – so long as he continues to hit on themes that Americans support – how to return the country to a true, small government, constitutional republic and how to end the war in Iraq.

To be sure such amounts are somewhat speculative. But to put the amount of money Ron Paul is said to have raised recently in perspective, here are the figures of cash on hand for GOP candidates as of March 31, 2007:

Duncan Hunter

John McCain
cash-on-hand: $5,180,799

Ron Paul
cash-on-hand: $524,919

Mitt Romney
cash-on-hand: $11,863,653

Tom Tancredo

Wow! Whether you think Ron Paul can win the nomination or not, there appears to be little doubt that at the very least, he'll be getting his message out there. :D
