Rossi R92 .357 Magnum - A Ton of Fun

I've wanted a Winchester M92 .25/20 for so long... Never could afford one though.
Finally came across an idea. I ran across an R92 .357 in a pawnshop, and they didn't want it any more.
We reached a price, and it went home with me. I ordered a small .25 caliber barrel that I could put on my Rossi.
I had found a .256 WinMag reamer a few years ago so I ended up with a 20" barrel on a carbine that now has a button magazine and a Lyman tang peep-sight. I also installed a small shotgun pad on the stock, so it won's skitter out across the linolium floor when I
place it against the wall next to the refrigerator.
It's ready all the time for a varmint to pop up in the garden outside the back door.
I have a box of 1k 86grain soft points Remingtons, and 10 or so boxes of Hornady 60grain soft point flat-tips, along with
a Lyman mold for 65grain round-nose boolits and an NOE mold for 85grain flat-point boolits.
cases are little hard to find, but I have 100 or so mixed cases to use when needed. .357 cases can be used to make more, if necessary.

I liked this carbine so much, that when I ran across a Trapper's Model Rossi .44Magnum, I had to get it too.
I carry a Ruger Blackhawk Flat-top .44Special 4 5/8" when out for a walk, so load for it. The dies will
load .44 Mangle'um ammo, so I now run light-load AND heavy through the carbine using maggie cases. The short-barrelled rifle
is like using a revolver that is easier to hit with. I have a 1/2 magazine on it now, so it's quite light.
I replaced the safety with a peep-sight from Stevesgunz.

As for the saddle-ring...I don't have one, 'cause I don't have a horse. They are iconic, but I don't like the
marks it leaves. If I rode horse, I would have one, even with the marks, as I'd use it.
Enjoy your carbine(s) and have fun,
Gene

Mystery wood on a rossi don't bother me any. Just pretend it's gum wood.

Most folks don't know that Winchester used gum wood for the 92. So if you ever see an old Winchester that has a weird wood that you're sure ain't walnut... don't assume it's not original.

I have a Judge, and it shoots 45colt, and an Uberti EL PATRON in 45 colt, so I load for that round, and the dies will load 454.
That EL PATRON is a colt look a like, with the 4 clicks in the hammer, and I load one, skip one and load the other 4 rounds, and lower the hammer on an empty cylinder, just as my granddads did with original colts. back in the 1920s and 1930s
as town marshalls during the oil boom of Oklahoma.

They also kept 1894s between the seats.
