Well, it happened on tuesday, and I had a great time, so here it is (because I'm bored)

Showed up to the range, and after some very rudimentary instruction in the operation of the firearms and the 4 safety rules, we got started.

Range didn't have enough 92s, so we also had an HK USP and a glock 19C

One of the girls began the day frightened, and by the end of the day wanted to shoot a full mag fast to "see how it felt." I suggested to wait until she gained more time behind the sights, but it was good to see her excited.

One cadet shot his ammo, then purchased 4 more boxes! :D

Firing impressions of the other guns, from my standpoint. I loved the USP, and the ported glock was fun, but I still like my XD better.

There was one problem. A shooter had an accidental discharge while pulling the trigger after supposedly clearing the gun (I had showed them the function check procedures, required knowledge in the military)

Luckily, my safety rules were followed, and the gun was pointed directly at the paper target when he pulled the trigger, and no one was in the way, obviously. Gave him a start, but no one was hurt. Perfect example of why those rules gotta be followed EVERY TIME. it's always the "unloaded" gun that goes off unexpectedly.

I put about 700 rounds total downrange after everyone left (spent all the time while they were there as a range safety.) and got some real tight groups out of the XD. I think my carry piece, when I get my CCW (I'm optimistic) will be a subcompact XD.

The jury's still out on the girl who refuses to touch a gun. I haven't said anything to the Colonel, but I think I will.

James
