I am loading 9mm using RCBS taper crimp die seperately from the seating die. The round seems to stick in the die when you try to back it out. I haven't seen this with other calibers I load. If I push the uncrimped round in the die by hand, I can feel the brass kinda 'stick' and it takes some force to pull it out. The crimp die seems to work OK otherwise. Its just kind of anoying. I am using only a very little bell on the brass (almost not noticable). I cleaned the die well and even used a Q-tip to put a little CLP in the crimp area. Is there something wrong with the die? Is this 'normal' for 9mm?

There may be a small burr in the crimping shoulder of the die. I would send it back to the factory with a letter explaining the problem and have them check it out.

Shortcuts in manufacturing/quality control that result in things like this seem to be common in one particular brand of dies.

An even better option, IMNSHO, for 9MM, or any other straight walled semi-auto is the Lee Factory Crimp die. (Note: This is ths ONLY Lee product that I would ever recommend to anyone)

Could be machining marks inside the die, could be dried lubricant, could be caked on bullet lubricant if you are or have been reloading with lead bullets.

Measure the crimp before and after

Measure the crimp before and after. I've always understood the 9mm to be tapered such that it frees up completely with the least bit of extraction as opposed to a straightwalled case but I may be wrong.

Is there any chance you are butting the shell holder against the base of the die? What's the OAL of your brass? What does your bullet measure? Your expander?
