IIRC, the .460 is straight Wall, which means it would be legal in Ohio for deer. Would have been great in Indiana except they opened it up to regular centerfire rifles last year

Anyway, for an Ohio deer hunter it would be great. I've never seen the fascination with the #1, but that's just me. Unless you have some super overwhelming desire to shoot it, I'd move it to Ohio.

Agreed, if it dosent float your boat as a shooter id probably send it along. Or keep it as a collectible, it is a cool gun.
Seems like a neat combo, but id personally rather have that #3 youve posted pictures of.

and yeah the .460s basically and extra, extra long, high pressure .45LC

yea that # 3 has stacked up a pile of deer over the years, its not a collector but a hunter to me. i had a navy arms siamese 98 mauser that i killed deer with with open sights and straight bolt, but when i found a lighter 98 siamese mauser that was drilled and tapped with bent bolt and changed safety, i sold the unscoped one. eastbank.

Personally I love the #1 Rugers, they have an elegant feel to them. It would make a dandy deer rifle, or hog gun in the right area, but that is about it. If you were closer and it was priced right I would add it to my small collection or #1's. My .338WM #1 took most of my African trophy's.

It's pretty, no doubt about that. What's the notch in the forestock for?

I'd probably shoot it to see if it groups well with inexpensive factory .45 Colt and base my decision on that. Seems like it would be very specialized as a hunting arm.

Really like seeing your finds eastbank. Great taste in firearms.

its called a alexander henry forend that ruger has on their #1A and #1s and #1t. top model B forend, middle model alexander henry forend, bottom model international forend. eastbank.

Those international #1s are some of my favorites. I dont usually like full stock guns but those i do.

If the .460 was in international trim, that would be a neat set up.

I'm just the opposite in that I like full stocked rifles, especially the Ruger #1 International. Would really love to have one in 6.5 x55 but I agree, a .460 in an International stock would be mighty interesting!

What a beautiful rifle.
Perfect for deer hunting in indiana or Ohio with straight walled cartridge restrictions.

I would shoot it.

Actually, Indiana changed the rules last season. We can now use any 6mm or .30 caliber centerfire rifle. I used my .243 last season. May use my model 99 .300 Savage next year. Just 'cause I can.

Wow that's great.
I am hoping that Illinois follows suit. I would like to hunt my woods with my .30-30
