I would like to know what everyone else suggests for a dependable after market hi cap mag for the 10/22. I have several factory mags that work great, but have had no luck with hi cap mags. I have tried ram line 25rd mags. It works ok only a few jams. I've tried Shooters Ridge 30rders. These were the biggest pieces of **** I have ever used took all of them back to Cabelas. The next im going to try is one Butler Creek steel lip 25rd mag to see how it works but still want to know what you guys think.

I have had nothing but good luck with the Butler Creek stuff. I've never use a steel lips, but the hot lips 25 and 10 rds have lasted me 20 years thus far.

Butler Creek and Tactical Innovations are the only two worth having. It really helped for me that a gun store that used to be open near me would often put the 25rd Hotlips on sale for $10 each...

The Butler Creek hand cranked mag loaders are freakin' awesome, too.

I'd try a butler creek hot lips first and see if that works. If not, you are out $13 or so. Load it to capacity, ignore jams on the first magful, and it should work fine after that (for some reason they tend to bind for that first loading/unloading but function fine afterwards, maybe burrs from molding/gluing) They work in mine, but rimfires are picky.

I think the TI magazines are considered the best and judging from the price, so does TI.
If it won't work with the steel lips I'd get the rifle looked at by a gunsmith.

Tactical Innovations is the one I've read great things about but they are very expensive. I've got a Butler Creek Hot Lips but I've never used the Steel Lips. They Hot Lip one doesn't work well for me. It's really hard to get to lock into the gun. It's like you have to push it hard and wiggle it around until it will finally click in. Then it's not the most reliable thing once you do get it locked in. Works ok but has jams every once in a while where as the regular stock magazine hardly ever jams. I've also used a Ram Line one and this one clips is great and also holds 50 rounds which I like. However, sometimes the bullet will hit right below the hole for the chamber and cause a jam. It's not the most reliable thing but I guess I do like it better than the Butler Creek one.

I'd really like to find a 50 round magazine that's reliable. I have thought about trying to Tactical Innovations 25 round magazine but I just hate to pay that much for a 25 rounder.

...our 10/22's got two Butler Creek steel lips 25-rounders taped back-to-back...heard the plastic lips wear quicker...heard bad about Ramline and some others...these were reasonably inexpensive and have done well so far...

butler creek, eagle, an ram line have always treated me fine. winchester super X an remington golden bullets have not.

If I had money I'd got with steel lips, but since I don't I buy cheap and have had luck so far.

This question has been asked many times before.
My answer (again) is to try and find some used Intratec Tec-22 magazines at a gun show, they work pretty darn good and aren't to exspensive.

Butler creek have worked fine for me. I have a couple of steel lip 10 round mags made during the AWB that I like and use more than factory. They are not too big for hunting or general use and are easier to insert and remove from the rifle to me.

Wow is a 500 round magazine really coming out? That would be pretty fun for plinking. Wouldn't have to reload all day. Well, you might because you might shoot it a ton more.

Don't automatically dismiss Tactical Innovations. Sure, their aluminum mags are mighty expensive, but they have two other offerings at lower price points, too.

I didn't know TI started offering polycarbonate mags. They look to be similar to BC hotlips but adjustable.

I have a few of the TI Al and composite mags and they are nice but when they changed their prices after the election they were no longer worth it. Factory 10 rnd mag go on sale at midway for $11. That is $1.10/round of capacity and TI composite mags are $1.80/round of capacity. The brushed Al mags do draw some attention at the range, as they should for $2.60/round of capacity.

I buy only factory mags now.

Jam line and BC's work in many guns but the only mag that works in all guns is the Tactical Innovations. It is the only adjustable mag. Aluminum or Tupperware construction, the only one as reliable as oem.

The BC work great for me. I have some Eagles that are horrible; couldn't ever reach the company or I would have returned them.

Have several Hot Lips and Steel Lips, both work great and cannot see the difference for operation.

eagles are near flawless got 2 steel lip magazines and they jam every for the first 4 or 5 so probably would be good if you only loaded to 20 or so

I stick with butler creek steel lips. I tried the plastic lips and didn't have a good experience. They are prone to jam and deform your bullets. The steel lips on the other hand are golden.
