Ruger 22/45 - grip mod and more...

A gentleman over on rimfirecentral.com gussied up my 22/45 a bit:

Mods:

Milled grip frame and install grips
Hammer bushing install and grind/polish hammer
Stainless pretravel screw install
Slingshot mod with coil spring
VQ sear install

I had thought about doing some of this myself, worried mostly about screwing up the grip mod. I'm glad I ended up having someone with experience take care of it all!

Heading to the range on Thursday, can't wait to punch some paper.

How about the mag safety? Did it go away with the hammer bushing?

Yes sir it did. Sure makes assembly / disassembly easier!

What did it cost you to have the guy do this? I'm going to a gun show in a couple of weeks, and I'm considering the 22/45 if I can use thicker grips. The other mods look attractive as well.

nanooman fyi ruger now offers the "RP" 22/45 model with replaceable 1911-type grip panels. very cool.

I have a set of Hogue commander grips and the screw post but haven't gotten up to grinding down the handles to make it all work. It is on my round to it list.
