Oooooh I want to hold one! I am a big fan of the caliber, and put an unfluted cylinder on it... Stick a fork in me, I'm done.

Wondering if y'all can give me a little, or big, review. I'm seeing them on the selling websights, but no really good shooting reviews. I'm thinking of selling a rifle to get one!

Only unfluted .357's I know of are the Bisley models. Otherwise, it would be several hundred to build a custom cylinder.

but add too much weight.
Not really, only a 0.3oz difference. Not even enough to notice.

There's a special edition GP100 with unfluted cylinder out now, maybe that's what OP is referring to?

I wouldn't expect the two versions to shoot or feel different, just a cosmetic feature.

IMO unfluted cylinders look nice, but add too much weight.
Funny, I never got that from them.

I always got more of a: "I just got a lathe... look what I made!" from them.

Always give me the impression of unfinished or prototype.

Todd.

I love my 7-1/2" Super Blackhawk with unfluted cylinder...

If they came out with a Blackhawk in .357 with a 4-5/8" barrel unfluted in stainless, I'd seriously have to take a look at adding it...

IMHO, unfluted cylinders have more of an "all-business" appearance. Before the SAA, most early American revolvers were unfluted.
(Only the bottom sixgun is mine)

I agree with CraigC, all business. Besides how much weight do they really remove with flutes? Maybe an ounce for all 6?

I don't have any Rugers with unfluted cylinders, but I do have a coupla Smiths with them. Like some others here, I just like they way they look.

Nuttin' technical about it.

This .45 Colt "Super" Blackhawk started out life as a Bisley and I had it converted to the Super Blackhawk configuration. So, not a .357 Magnum, but unfluted cylinder anyway.

And I just can't warm up to an unflutted cylinder for some reason. Maybe they just look like something is missing. Exception being the Ruger Bearcat and Super Blackhawk.

No ide why those two pass muster and others don't. Maybe because they've always been unfluted at least as far as I know.

A few black powder cylinders had twisted steel for strength. Later, flutes were added for strength. Today metallurgy serves the purpose. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

Citation? I've never heard of a revolver with a damascus cylinder.

Flutes do not add strength.
