I have late 80s 77/22 that I use Squirrel hunting. The last few times I went I shoot one eject the case put another round in when I go to put it on safety the safety would not move back to the safe position and if try to fire it the trigger would not pull. So I took the bolt out and looked it over din't see anything wrong with it so I cleaned it off but it back in and it work good for the rest of the day. When I got back home I cleaned it up and Went down to the bench to shoot. I shoot it about 20-40 times and it did the same thing. It's done this about 5 times now.

Thank for your help

Could just be dried oil or a weed seed in there floating around.

I'd take the action out of the stock and blast out the receiver, bolt, safety, and trigger assembly with Gun-Scrubber, or WD-40 and an old toothbrush.

Blow dry with an air hose, lightly re-lube with Rem-Oil, and then try it.
