Ruger AC 556 red dot

Considering the value of an AC 556 I'd be reluctant to do anything that altered it permanently.

What about a stock mod or rails that Jimmy at Predator could drop it into so you could scout mount it without tapping the receiver?

Or something a little less radical?

Bob and Jimmy would probably have to mod the parts to fit since I suspect the AC556 has some differences, but they're more than capable of doing that and you'd end up with a spiffy new platform to put accessories on without devaluing the original NFA firearm a penny.

Might want to consider something a little more up-scale then a Tru-Glo red-dot too on a gun that valuable.

I've heard of a lot of unhappy campers after buying them.
Especially the 2X model with unresolved parallax issues.

I have the gas block scout mount on one of my Minis. I've never had any trouble from it. It holds it's zero very well. And it comes at a decent price.

A friend of mine has the SCAR stock on his AC. I love the stock, but it comes with some disadvantages. Compared to a standard wood or synthetic stock, it is extremely heavy. And at $550-$590 each, they are very costly. I'd like to have one, but I'm not going to pay a 500% premium for one over another stock.

If memory serves and lately that's been questionable :D, B-Square had a mount for the non-Ranch Mini-14 that did not rquire any alterations to the gun. Let us know what you find out.

Now, where did I leave those car keys...

Thanx for all the input folks. I'm really liking the gas block mount for the moment but I'm going to keep looking for a bit. As for stock mods Tapco has a good looking Mini 14 kit, but I'm not sure if it would fit the Ac 556???

Better to hack on the things you're looking to add on than the firearm itself. Check with Jimmy or with Shannon for ideas.
