Ruger american 762x39

Has anyone converted there ruger american in 762x39 to accept ar15 mags? I was reading the mag well can be swapped out. Thinking about getting a ar15 mag well and out it on the RAR in 762x39. Curious if the feed angle and height are alright to cycle.

I haven't seen anybody do it yet. I've gone from ai to rotary and back, which works well on newer guns but can have issues with the older ones.

Might try calling Ruger, the customer support is actually quite knowledgeable and maybe able to tell you if they know of anyone having done it

Why would you want to? The 7.62x39 rar takes mini thirty mags, are super reliable and the AR mags designed for x39 are just as expensive for the reliable ones. If it converted to AK mags I could get on board, AR mags, nah, I’ll take my mini thirties for this one.

It seems to work pretty well.

I just had mine out yesterday and had a ton of fun. I am sticking with the Mini 30 mags, but I can see how this would be a pretty cool idea.

I agree, would much rather have it take AK47 mags. But i will settle for the Ar mags.
