Does the ruger blackhawk and super blackhawk take the same size grip? I just recieved a 44mag super blackhawk and it has a mono pach on it and I wanted to put it back to the original wood grips. There was 3 sets with it and none of them fit. They all come just short of the bottom of the grip leaving the inside of the handle showing. I thought maybe the balckhawk had smaller grips or possibly they could be from a single six.
thanks
Jim

Acording to Hogue The Blackhawk, Vaquero, and the Single-Six take the same grip. The Super Blackhawk stands alone.

You'll need to buy "Super Blackhawk" grips.

Square trigger gaurd?

Super blackhawks come in both dragoon (square) trigger guards and round trigger guards. The 7.5" and 10.5" barrel models have the square guard. The 4 5/8" and 5.5" models have round trigger guards. The 5.5" also has a fluted cylinder.

Super blackhawks do have a larger (longer) grip compared to the standard blackhawks. I may be wrong, but I think the single six grips are interchangeable with the blackhawk grips.

Super Blackhawks with the Dragoon frame include the 7.5", 10.5" and Hunter models. The Hunters have round guards, the others have square.

Other Super Blackhawks (4 5/8" and 5 1/2") have the Blackhawk frame, which is the same as the Single Six and Vaquero grip frame.

New Vaqueros and 50th Anniversary flattop reissues (as well as original flattops from 50 years ago) have smaller grips than the current Blackhawks.
