I took my 10/22 out a got to put about 350 rds. down range over the weekend. Most through the 10 rd. rotary mags, but some through Ruger's own 25 rd. mag (BX-25). The thing is, I had rd. after rd. failing to feed. I used a variety of high to low priced stuff. Has anyone had any issues?

Gotta ask - how clean were the rifle and mags? After a while, even the normally-uber-reliable 10-rounds rotary mags need to be opened up and cleaned out.

Supposedly some need to be taken apart and have the burrs and such removed from the followers path of travel. The Ones I've used worked fine but I have enough bc mags that I havent gotten any bx25s yet so I don't have hands on experiance with the internals. If theres any major issues other than needing to be smoothed out ruger generally has great customer service and should take care of it.

Any pattern to the FTFe? Both my Mk II and 10/22 have some ammo they just don't like. It ain't the mags, it's the bullet profile.

Of the 5 BX-25's I have I have one that is iffy and intermittently causes FTFe stoppages. It's marked for modification when I get time to fool with it at the range.

I had the same experience as the OP when I took my Bx25 out the first time... I haven't really used it since then, but the normal Ruger mags I had at the time were feeding fine.

I was using Golden bullets and Federal bulk pack predominately, but I even threw some Velocitors in the mix to see if I could get the Bx25 to behave... no dice, it was choking on everything, I don't think I got through 5 rounds without a failure to feed. I was pretty disappointed because other folks seem to be having good luck with these mags.

I hadn't heard about the Burrs though, I may have to tear my mag down and look for manufacturing defects when I get the time.

Oh boy, bought one thinking it would be good to go, now I will have to pull it appart just to be sure.

Thanks
Jim

I have three and all are running perfectly out of the box. My newer 10/22 did not like the bulk Remington at first but settled in. I hardly ever use the 10 round mags now since I do not hunt with the 10/22.
