That is a very nice set up!!

Thanks! I am very pleased with this purchase.

Are you planning on adding a scope or red dot?

I think a scout scope will go on this. I am leaning towards the leupold fx II 2.5x28... But I also hesitate if I want something with more magnification, like 2-7x30. My reasoning is I want to be confident at 500 yards, 300 is a must and I'm not confident with the irons at all with 200-300 yard targets.

Definitely a scout scope though.

Actually might pull the trigger on this. Any advice is welcome! What do you think?

I plan on buying more ammo a scope and a 10 rd poly mag tonight

Love my Burris Scout, It holds a place on my Scout .22 until I man up and get the GSR. With the 2.75X I can consistently hit the steel pig at 200 yds.

It's not really a scope for punching small groups way out, but the trade off is fast target acquisition, and ease of keeping moving targets in view. On a .308, I'd be tempted to go with the 2-7x, just to reach out a bit more; but also, I'd like to keep it simple with just a fixed power. I'd have to try the 2-7 before I made a choice.

Awesome first rifle!

If you aren't already, be sure to save the brass if you can. You will probably want to start reloading for it in a few months, and you'll be happy to have all that once-fired brass!

The Leupold 1-4x Scout looks very nice on my GSR, and provides enough magnification to regularly shoot MOA.

gary

got me pondering again guys haha!

What do you think of the Hi-Lux Leatherwood 2-7x32? I read good things about it!

Great rifle. I use mine to hunt deer. It makes a useful bush/field rifle. I have also had good experiences with the polymer magazines.

Update!

So I went on a little binge of spending.

I purchased a polymer mag as recommended. And wow, you guys were right.
-Easier to load
-Lighter
-Easier to insert
-Smaller (about 10-15% smaller)

I also bought the leatherwood 2-7x32 scout scope with warne qd rings. I dont have a review, havent shot with it yet, though based on first impressions.
-Clean and crisp eye sight.
-Solid weight and feels sturdy
-The duplex has the thick lines transitions to thin for sight picture (nice!) believe this is new addition
- Zoom is crisp and clear

Enjoy the pictures, I will update as I go! I will to boresight this before the range.

If I like the scout scope after using it, I might invest in the leupold.

Funny you should post this today. I was just pricing one out at my LGS.

What can you tell me about the muzzle brake/flash hider? Does it serve a purpose? It appears it is ported all the way around....

I assume the muzzle brake on this rifle helps with the recoil, at least that is what I was told/read about. The recoil did seam minimal from what I was expecting, but I dont have anything to compare it too.

Next time I am at the range I will fire with it off and put it back on to compare.

I guess it just looks cool, haha, until I know more.

It is ported all the way around. The diameter of the wholes are bigger on the inside. All I can say for now.

I LOVE my GSR. Ruger made a legendary rifle with that one imo. I converted my 308 GSR to a 358 with a competition Match Grade Shillen barrel amongst numerous other things. If I had to pick one rifle to do it all with -hunting, -self defense/home defense, -range time THIS would be the rifle. Dont ditch the Ruger plastic mags for metal. They have torture tests done on them that are unreal. EXCELLENT choice, congrats, and enjoy her. I have a Zeiss Terra 3x on mine with QR mounts for extremely fast access to my New England Custom guns MASTERPIECE Iron Sites with the optional pop-up BIG DOT up front. Boy do I love this gun!

Pics? I was about to go in your direction until I came across Ruger's guide gun. Though I still have an itch for the 358 GSR :)

too many customizations to list.

358 youll need to re caliber it because its not a factory option load for the GSR. Talk about a thumper though I could take anything down in North America with this and do so with Authority!

Being a metal guy myself I have to say I choose the plastic mags over the metal ones for the GSR. I have 2- 10 rounders 2- 5 rounders. VERY tough.

My sentiments exactly. The steel mags are nice, in my opinion. But I have to say the polymer are better... At least so far. I did have my reservations at first.

Nice looking rifles everyone.

A few questions.

Does Titan make sling swivels in 1in only or also 1.25in?

Does Ruger produce a synthetic stock for southpaws? ( GSR 308)

Someone mentioned stainless steel mags for the GSR?
Where can one find theses ss mags?

Im looking for another GSR , and want a left hand bolt, 16in bbl, synthetic stock, stainless steel model chambered in 308.

Does Ruger make such a beast?

They do both. Mine is 1.25in. The brand name is the outdoor connection, model is titan (their steel version).

As previously answered, not yet, but let's hope so!

I don't believe stainless steel mags exist for this. Steel mags do, polymer seems better IMO for this rifle, make your own mind though. You can purchase mags from several sights. I would always check CTP or ruger website.

I hope this helps, let's us know if you have any other questions!

I feel for you southpaws, I used to be one... Till my corrective eye surgery. For some strange reason my dominant eye changed! I don't know if that's possible... I'm not a doctor, just my perception of my vision. Always right handed though.
