Ruger LC9 versus Walther PPS

So I had a brief non-revolver moment today at the range and rented both an LC9 and a PPS. After 25 rounds each downrange it was pretty obvious the PPS was more accurate and refined, although the LC9 had far less felt recoil. And, the PPS is almost twice as expensive as the LC9.

Wonder if anyone here has these guns or has done some comparison of them, or maybe has another recommendation or two, love to hear it.

Im trying to decide between these 2 also. Unfortunately I cant find a PPS to even hold... it would have to be a blind buy. Ive held the LC9 but the ranges dont rent it.

Oh yea buds has the PPS for $581 shipped and Walther has a $50 mail in rebate if purchased by 10/31. So $531 plus ffl fees.

I have LCP and PPS. I have also shot the LC9. In my opinion, PPS is a superior gun in all but weight and size. But PPS is very thin and very accurate too. I like both, but if I could keep only one, PPS

Anything but the the LC9. I shot one about a week back, and I couldn't hit a thing with it. I very much disliked it. There are a lot of better options out there... JMHO

Shot an LC9 last week for the first time. I liked it. Yeah, the trigger pull is long and reset is all the way forward (just like revolvers) but the gun was accurate, functioned perfectly and was very controllable despite small size. Walther costs a couple hundred (+) more than LC9. I'd go with the Ruger and buy more magazines and ammo.

How about looking at the Khar CM9 about $100 less than the PPS

I have now 6700 rounds thru my LC9 and still no hangups or anything with ammo so far. I cleanit every 300 rounds and no breakage or cracks in the recoil rod. So,take it from there.

Might want to check out the P99cAS as well. Not quite as thin as the PPS, but it's a tad lighter, with a higher capacity as well.

I went with the LC9. Because of past experience with Walther the PPS was not under consideration while looking for a small 9mm.

After careful consideration, for the purpose I have in mind, it will be the LC9.

Walther PPS, like you I shot a range PPS and found it very easy to shoot and very accurate. Yeah it is little more expensive but I think it is worth it. Again just my opinion. God Bless

bikemutt, you made a good choice. i love my LC9, its quickly become my favorate handgun. it just handles great for me and feels perfect in the hand, it might be the best handling handgun i have ever held and i have well over 25 handguns.

97guns, thanks for the encouragement. Even though I was more accurate with the PPS over the LC9 it's very possible there's more to it than inherent weapon accuracy. The trigger pull on the LC9 is it's own beast, one I've not encountered before, with some practice I'm confident I can become a better shooter with it.

i took my lc9 to the range yesterday for its 2nd outing and passed the 1000 round mark. the only trouble ive had with it is light primer strikes with S&B ammo, everything else ran through it without a stutter. all in all ive run 10 different brands/weight/bullet designs through it.

Fishbed, nope PPK underwent unscheduled self-disassembly in the middle of a range session. Walther claimed it was impossible and refused to honor the warrenty.
Using standard factory ammunition, no obstruction of bore.

You do realize the modern PPK is made by Smith & Wesson and not Walther, right?

And that the modern Walther polymer pistols have about as much in common with a PPK, whether made by S&W or Walther, as Glock has to the 1911?

Also, Warranty concerns are handled by S&W here in the US, and they can be a pain when dealing with their own firearms. Have a problem with a real Walther, and you can shoot an e-mail off to Walther Germany and get them to fix it, stat.

I would think the PPS is closer to the SR9C then an LC9 in size, weight function, etc?

I have a 40cal PPS that has been perfect. Biggest problem with it is the cost of extra mags.

My wife was looking for something like this now that WI has CCW. She (we) handled the Walther PPS as well as the Ruger LC9 and choose the LC9, based on size, weight and feel, and $. So far, a few hundred rounds through the LC9 with no problems, except it throws the casings so far they can be hard to find for reloading.

What Group said. Extra PPS Mags are high, but the gun is fantastic for carry, and very accurate. The 40 is not a plinker, but is an absolute joy to carry.

My PPS 40 is NOT for sale.

Reloader, 1996. Pretty sure it was made by Walther. If it had been one of the S&W's I would have said so.
