Ruger LC9s as good as a S&W Shield 9mm?

Your Ruger had a horrible trigger? Sure it wasn’t the LC9 and not the LC9S? The Ruger LC9S has a super light and smooth trigger. Hickock 45 comments on it. Best trigger of any sub compact carry gun I’ve handled, and I’ve shot the Sig 365 and own the Shield. Ruger trigger is so light they while I prefer a manual safety on a striker fired semi auto, I would insist on it for the LC9S. I’ve owned and carried Glocks but would never carry the LC9S Pro because it has no safety.

No homerboy. It wasn't the hammer fired model. It was the striker fired one and I hated it. Not even sure why I bought it. Trigger was long, sloppy and gritty, if that makes sense. The shield trigger isn't great, but mine is much better than the Ruger was. It keeps getting better with age too.

Ruger went from one extreme to the other, just like they did with the LCPll. The Gen One was terrible then the Gen 2 was a very nice DAO. Smooth and about 6lbs of pull. I believe that is why they still sell the Gen 2 now manufactured in NC.

You’re the first I have heard to complain about it. Only complaint I have heard is that it is too light, which I think it is. Which is why I’d never carry the Pro model without the safety.

I think the Shield 1.0 trigger is fine. Seems like everybody jumped on the “gotta put an Apex trigger in” to every M&p 1.0. I never got the need. Last time I shot my Ruger I was putting them into a quarter sized group at 10 yards. Good enough for me.

Your gun was an anomaly. I've been carrying and shooting the LC9s for years. My son-in-law fell in love with it after shooting mine and bought one. Light, glassy trigger. As reliable as a gun gets.
