Ruger LCR Cylinder Swap?

Did a search and didn't find the answer...unless I missed it somewhere.

Can the cylinder on an LCR be easily swapped, and does Ruger sell extra/replacement cylinders?

Swapping cylinders is not a "drop in" sort of thing. Ruger will not sell extra/replacement cylinders unless you send the revolver to them to have it fitted, and they will only duplicate what was in it in the first place.

If you are thinking of switching a .38 special LCR to a .357 magnum LCR, by swapping cylinders, it will not work. The frame on the two models is of a different material and the cylinders are of a different length. I have one of each. I just can't think of any other reason to swap cylinders.

Actually, I was thinking of sending a cylinder to Mark at Pinnacle Arms to have it machined to shoot 9mm using moonclips (where's WC145 when you need him?), and still have the ability to swap out cylinders to shoot .38sp/.357 when I wanted to.

As for the question, "Why don't you get a S&W 940, an SP-101 in 9mm or a Taurus 905?" I can't quite get used to the grip on a J-frame, whereas the LCR feels much, much better in my hands...

Theoretically, you could send it back to Ruger without its original cylinder and have them fit a new one. Shouldn't be too awful expensive. Relatively speaking.

Hello -- I am interested in purchasing an additional cylinder/crane assembly for my LCR .357 to have as a backup. Would that be possible, and if so, how much would it cost? Thank you!

Unfortunately, an extra cylinder is not available for double action revolvers.

Took their sweet time about it didn't they? Too bad they won't sell you a cylinder, S&W will if they have them available.

If you keep an eye on Numrich's website they get a lot of overstocked and discontinued parts from the factories. I've bought 940 cyls, Ti 342 cyls, and Ti 242 cyls from them. Unfortunately, they don't have any LCR parts but the guns are pretty new.
