I recently picked up a Ruger LCR and 22 long rifle and while the Hogue grips on it are fairly nice I would like something a tiny bit smaller. Also preferably on wood.

Does anybody make a set of Splinter grips fit a Ruger LCR similar to the old Smith & Wesson J frame grips?

I use the hogue bantam grips on mine. Work well. You can find them on Amazon, ebay, and the ruger website.

I’ve seen wood grips around the web but don’t remember names right off. Rosewood maybe?

I’d google search for it and check the above retailers. I’d also check midway. I really like their setup for finding grips and holsters.

I think Eagle Grips makes a wood LCR grip, but I'm honestly not sure what you mean by "Splinter" grips.

I have no experience with Eagle Grips, but I have heard mixed reviews of their durability. Better do some research.

Something slimmer that the stock Hogues. similar in size and contour to the grips on the S&W below.

I've found the LCR grip selection to be rather lacking. Best of luck.

The LCR can't use traditional shingle style grips, it's designed to have the grip tenon enclosed by the grips, fully.

A low profile grip could be made, easily enough, but it seems it hasn't been such a high demand item for someone to be offering it as a shelf item.

I am a totally devoted to my Ruger LCR 9mm. Just a fun gun to shoot. I went from the stock grip, to the Pro-diamond to the Bantam Boot grip. For myself the Bantam Boot was the perfect. I did not think the smaller grip would function as well, but it would conceal better. Well, I was wrong, the gun for me, shot and handled so much better. I love the grip. I just bought a LCR22 to go along with the 9mm for training. Spent the last two day shooting it have having a great time. Truly love these guns.

Did you add grip tape or stipple the sides?

Just put on some grip tape. I buy the large sheets and just cut. Do not spend a lot of time to get perfect. I am surprised on how long they stay on. I have yet to have to redue the 9mm which has been on there for a long time, and thousands of rounds down range.
