Will a Ruger Mark I accept a Ruger Mark II or Mark III magazine?

My Mk1 will accept Mk3 magazines grudgingly, they lock in and feed fine but don't drop free. They have to be pulled out, tight fit.

Despite what has been said above, for some reason my MKI and MKII will use all of the magazines I have and it doesn't seem to matter. The MK 1 mags hold 9 and the MKII mags hold 10. I find I can use them interchangeably. Maybe I am just lucky. Here is my stable of MKI & MKII pistols. The MKI is at the top without the bolt hold and with a tapered barrel if you have trouble identifying them.

I do not own a MK3, so I can't speak to that.

243winxb is correct about some of the earlier MKI pistols having the knob on the opposite side of the magazine. The later versions did not. In my case the knob is on the left making it the same side as my MKII pistol. If you find a used mag somewhere, it is very easy to change the knob on the mag to the other side if needed.

rimfirecentral.com has a lot of good info on the mk ruger pistols.
