Hello, I have a fairly new Ruger Mark III 22/45 and when I manually rack the action and pull the trigger nothing happens, when i release the trigger and pull it a second time it will fire. If I insert a new mag with the action open and release the bolt with the slide release the trigger works every time. It happens literally every time I manually rack the action... and it seems like it has been doing it since I bought it new. Any clues?

The mag safety is probably the main issue. It is a bit strange, the other thing that the mag safety does is make it difficult to seat the mag without a lot of force. The mag safety is the what makes disassembly and assembly process unhandy. There are numerous references on removing this safety and make the gun function like the MK II, It will many times also make the trigger better. Something to try, you can always put the MKIII trigger bushing back in.

It sounds more like the issue is the trigger not resetting. Have you cleaned the gun?

yeah you really have to work the mag to get it to seat... and yes i have cleaned the gun several times. It's not easy to do but i finally got the hang of it.

Just one more great design ruined by the legal industry.:banghead:

Well aside from the sage advice to remove the mag safety (use the Sams bushing, go on rimfirecentral and look for it), the best thing I can say is to call Ruger.
