Maybe after a good, long, summer afternoon of plinking hard. But I usually take my time aiming. It takes me about 3 or four minutes to go through a 20 round magazine (lately I've been just loading 10). Then I go and check the targets, and she's cooled enough by then. If I shoot more than 2 mags in a row, back to back, I'd probably start to see some mirage.

I just got my Burris Scout in the mail, and ordered some Warne QDs. Anyone wanna get rid of their Ultimak? Might just have to bite the bullet and pay full price. :banghead:

Yes, mine came with the 30 round magazine, but if I'm honest it is heavy and makes it difficult to shoot from low bags on a bench.

I bought an assortment of 20 rounders just to have, and use a single 5 round magazine at the range (makes for a leisurely pace, clears the bags, and allows the barrel to cool).

Some of you guys have flash hiders which have the sights quite a bit away from the muzzle. Maybe they can't be moved.

Does this produce less barrel whip, and is there enough sight distance?

Some thread the barrel. Some use the slip on. Some cyro freeze, Some hang Accu Strut system under the barrel. some break loos the 4 gas block bolts, then re torque to 15 to 18lbs I think it is.
My choices/ freeze, strut, gas block bolts, & why your at it change out the gas bushing. Your brass will land around your feet, not in the next county.

Brass on mine ejects to the far right behind me sometimes hitting my neighbor at range. I guess it normal for the Mini-14?

Mine launches it precisely 8 feet to the right, which at my local range is directly on someone's head.

Ive had my 580 SS ranch rifle for a year, but just got a ton of stuff for it for my birthday yesterday. Nikon Pro-Staff 3-9, Choate handguard, Accustrut, M14-style flash hider, and more. Im going to take it to a machinist to adjust the flash hider to fit, but it should look great!
I'll snap a picture.

I think you will like that Nikon Pro-staff scope. It did help in acquiring targets at longer distances and accuracy.
