Where can I get a hi-viz sight to replace the factory front sight blade on a Ruger Mk 1 ?

You can use the factory Hi-Vis style sights that they have for the Mark III Hunter model pistols. The front sight bases are the same for all three Ruger 22 auto models. Ruger sells replacement parts on their website.

Or is it the blade that fits into a raised slot on the barrel?

That arrangement may prove somewhat harder. I like the 4 3/4" model and have been on the hunt for something better for them for years.
