I picked up a new model superblackhawk last week. SS 4 5/8 barrel with the xr red grips. I want some aftermarket grips but was told by gun guy at Sportsmans warehouse that Hogue doesn't make one for this configuration, that the blackhawk grip won't fit correctly. Anyone on the forum have some advice.

I would go to Hoage's web site and drop them a note ... they would know for sure.

I have their monogrips on both of my Ruger Blackhawks (45 Colt and 30 cal carbine), as well as my Taurus 450 (45 Colt), and they are just out-frickin-standing.

They don't (yet!) make a grip for my smaller Taurus Public defender ... but as soon as they do ....

I just got these for my SBH a couple days ago: Altamont Super Rosewood, Fleur-de-lis $38 plus shipping.
Good quality grips for a descent price.

One thing to note: The SBH with round trigger guard (like yours and mine) use the same grips as the Blackhawk/Old Vaquero. The longer SBHs with the square guard have a different grip.

Went out to the Pawnee today to double check my 270 for antelope season and to shoot my new model super blackhawk. Had picked up some special loads as well as magnum loads. The special loads are sweet. Can't recall having shot any 44 magnum guns in the past so wasn't sure what to expect from the magnum loads. They weren't bad at all even with the stock xr red grips on the gun. Ran 30 rounds through it with the magnums and came to enjoy the gun. I did try the Hogue grip that their website claims is for my gun but it doesn't fit well at all so am taking it back:cuss: The gun really is too pretty with the stock grips so will keep them on
