It was news to me

scrat,
I guess word on something like this would move pretty fast. I just found out today. I don't have much time for the message boards. It is a shame to see this happen though. I guess they just did not sell enough of them to make it worth their while. I still say they are the best production cap and ball revolver ever made. I don't think I will ever sell any of the ones I have knowing they will be hard to come by now. :(

It was news to me too. I got one a few years ago, played with it a little - it was fun for a while - and recently put it on consignment. It was actually very accurate - one-hole groups at 15 yards standing/unsupported - with 35 grains of BP (nunnathem newfangled substitutes;)).

As a huge fan of the ROA, I have commented on that gun many times. But I would like to take this occasion and explain why I became such a fan. In my youth, I purchased a poorly made Italian replica of a Colt caplock revolver. Big mistake. That gun was so inaccurate that it nearly soured me to BP shooting. But I later purchased an Old Army and found it could shoot as accurately as The Lone Haranguer asserted. This restored my waning interest in BP shooting.

If my previous postings supporting the ROA have appeared a bit strident at times, it is because that Ruger model proved vastly superior to the Italian caplock revolvers I had shot. No doubt, others here may have had similar experiences. I thought this thread would provide an appropriate place to explain my passions concerning this gun.
