Hello all,
I have a question about the KP93DC. This is the 9mm I have, and I have the 15 round magazines, as well as 10 rounders. I like the gun, and am getting better with it as I practice. I am soon to get my CCW, and would like to carry the gun. I thought about selling it to get the XD45, but this is the gun I already have. Not only that, but 9mm is cheap to practice with. I use the Speer 124 gr +P rounds in it for HD. I also have the SP101 in .357 with the 2 1/4" barrel. It hides like a dream, but is only 5 shots. And a reload is harder with the snub wheelie than with a semi. And I have 3 times the ammo before a reload over the snub. Which would I be better served carrying? If I need more than 5 shots, I should be in way over my head. At least that is what I am telling myself. But 16 rounds sure sounds comforting in today's decreasingly decent society. I welcome any and all suggestions, and if someone does carry the P93, please let me know what carry rig you use. I am a large man, over 6'5" and over 350 lbs. Therefore, there is the spare tire to work with as well. That is where the snubby really shines, in concealing it. Enough rambling, open for suggestions.

Practice, practice, practice with that SP101. It's one of the top CCW weapons extant. It don't get no better IMHO. It's powerful, but it's not really newbie friendly. It requires practice. Try light .38s for your practice if you're a little overwhelmed by the .357 loads. They can intimidate and cause flinch problems to new shooters or experienced shooters that just stepped up to the magnums.

The 9mm is a bit bulky. Depending on dress, you can conceal it. My P85 hides well in my Sparks Summer Special IWB if I have a vest or something to cover the bulge under the shirt. It sure gets heavy on the hip in pretty short order, though. Ohio weather is a might easier on the CCW permit holder than where I'm at in south Texas. If you wear a business suit, you'll find it even easier to carry a big gun. The Summer Special is pretty comfy and makes carrying a big gun much easier than anything else I've tried.

But, if I were you, my ultimate goal would be to master that little revolver to the point I had confidence in it. 5 rounds is plenty, but you gotta be able to hit what you shoot at. When I carry a revolver, I carry one speed loader and one bianchi speed strip for extra rounds and I feel rather well armed. But, then, I grew up shooting revolvers. They're familiar tools.

One thing I do like about revolvers, they discourage the "spray and pray" reflex. Every round that goes astray is a round that could hit an innocent and you are legally and criminally liable for every bullet that leaves that barrel. I firmly believe in getting the job done as efficiently as possible with no excess.

Thanks McGunner. I love the SP101, I was just weighing the 5 vs. 16 capacity. I know there are a lot of .357 lovers out there, and I personally love the round. I know the 9mm has a big following as well. Guess I will buy a great holster for the SP and call it a day. I have two speed loaders, and two speed strips, so I guess it is time to get really proficient with the snubby.

Ohio: New to the CCW game.

With the right holster and wardrobe choice, you can carry the P93 without difficulty!!!

I used to live on the Buckeye state, so I know how it's going to get with summer coming.
I would suggest a good pancake holster covered with a loose t-shirt. You can also get a quality IWB rig. Everybody and his dog makes holsters for the P93!!! Just experiment with what works best for you!! Incidentally, get ready for the inevitable "dead holster" box!!!! ;) :D

I hoof my P89 around without a problem in a Bianchi #17 "Shadow II".
