Met my brother out at a range in the woods that was the site of a clay mining operation.
He is a new father and hasn't gotten to shoot in months, so brought out around 8 rifles to shoot. I brought my new Predator, my AR pistol, and a Gen 5 G23 and a 1911 R1 in .40 S&W.
Weather was typical Idaho Spring in that it was beautiful, then raining, then beautiful, then windy, then sunny, then calm, etc, etc.
I think I got around 50 rounds downrange with the Predator, with 6 different loads.
Groups got smaller and smaller as I shot, so pretty sure the barrel is getting broken in.
All groups shot with reloaded ammo, and these are my first attempts at rifle reloads. Been doing pistol for a few years, now, but just started reloading rifle last summer.
Best group I managed was 7/8" using 178gr Hornady ELDX bullets and 42 grains of Varget.
Lots of 1" or so groups using 150gr bullets and 4895...
1" or better at 100 yards is OK, but I was really hoping for 1/2" or better. Thought maybe it was because of the weird weather and wind, but then my brother breaks out his Rem 700 heavy-barreled .308 and proceeds to nail this group...
But, before he got that, he got this group at 25 yards with the same rifle and could not figure out what was going on...
This is what a 6.5 Creedmoor case looks like after you shoot it in a .308. It's on the right...
Overall, it was a good day at the range. Started pouring down rain right when we were about done, and when I decided to fire my two .40 S&W pistols at the 100 yard targets.
The 1911...
And the Glock G23 Gen 5...
Pretty impressive, huh? Except for the fact that I fired 5-shots with each pistol and only one round out of each five shot group actually hit the target, lol.
So, even though the Predator isn't yet as accurate as I'd like, it did function flawlessly and I'm sure I'll get the groups smaller over time.
