Ruger Redhawk leading?

My grandson runs my reloads thru his dads Ruger Redhawk 44 mag. 10 grs Unique or 23 grs 296 with a 250 gr lswc, .430" diameter bullet that i cast, works well.

Same loads i use in my S&W 29-2 . Both have larger cylinders , then the bullet.

I always add some Rotometal linotype to the scrap lead or WWs.

I guess it comes down to, what works for you. But i have tested using near pure lead to 100% linotype.

I avoid soft alloys, even in 45 acp target loads.

May I ask why? Also what bhn are you speaking of?
The nose was deformed on hitting the feed ramp in my 1970s 45 acp Gold Cup. Some stuck and jammed there. This was with soft lead tested with my thimb nail. No BHN testing. Only time this type of jam ever happened.
Near pure will let bullets skid. In the 44 mag near pure will slump.

The old 50/50 lube worked better then current 50/50 because of the change in the type of Alox. Imo.

What lube are you using? Ty.

I run my 1911s. With lee 230gr TC with tumble lube grooves at 9.5-10bhn. I hitek coat most of the time but liquid alox works as well. Anything 850 fps and under is the 10bhn. Then 850-1100 is 11.5 bhn and 1100 to 1500 is 13bhn. And 1500 to 2100 is 15.5bhn. Mostly all hitek coating. I gas check anything over 1700 fps. Works well the 15.5 is mostly rifle and I dont want it any harder for hunting/expansion.

I use pure lead with 2%tin with alox in my 1858 conversion 45 colt. No leading but I dont have a feed ramp to deal with on that one.
