Ruger revolvers wich one's for you ?

I already have a safe full of handguns. For a defensive pistol, my number one choice is the M1911. For a backup or pocket carry gun, the Colt Detective Special fills the bill. And in .357, it's hard to beat my Colt M357 (same gun as the Python, without the cosmetics.)

But for a serious hunting handgun, the Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt is hard to beat.

Definately the Security/Service/Speed Six family. Lots of variations out there too like my nightstand gun, a 4" Service Six in 38 special and factory DAO.

Ruger blackhawk in 357 mag. The old gun isn't the prettiest but my wife bought it for me for Christmas one year for $180 and so far I haven't found a load it doesn't like or will shoot bad with. has a real sweet trigger and it just fits. I have a couple of Vaqueos that are nice but foe sentimental and accuracy they won't touch that Blackhawk.

Only one Ruger revolver I own, an old model Vaquero in 44 Magnum. I'd like a second one!

I have six Ruger revolvers. If I could have only one, I would pick a .357 Blackhawk three-screw with the 4 5/8" barrel.

If I could only have one, I'd chose a Stainless Blackhawk .357/9mm. I have 3 Blackhawks, 3 Vaqueros and a GP100 all 38/357. I also have a Superblackhawk .44 mag. , a P95 9mm and a LCP. I shoot Cowboy Action with the Vaqueros ant the Blackhawks. I hunt with the GP100 and the SBH stays in the safe. The P95 and the LCP I carry. Again if I could only have one, I'd want a Stainless Blackhawk convertible because of it versitility. I also have a Model 77 in .270, a Mini14 and a Mini30. But back to the question, I rather not chose, 'cause I like them all.

This one was easy. Even if I stop carrying revolvers for any reason, I will keep the one that I used "in the gravest extreme," an early 1990's 4" GP100, fully lugged barrel, adjustable sights. I actually get more use out of my several SP101s, with their various barrel lengths and hammer configurations, but that old workhorse/warhorse GP100 is an important artifact of my family history.

Had the question been phrased to ask which would be the one handgun I would have to own, if I could have only one, for all purposes, not collecting, a 4" to 6" .357 sixgun, medium-large frame, is as good as it gets, unless there is a need to walk among big bears and such, and my answer would still be a GP100, even if one had not saved my life.

I voted for the SP-101, but the more I shoot the Ruger LCR the more impressed I am with this little one. Considering what the basic purpose of this Ruger it excells.

I am not a big fan of wheel guns but I did buy another one at an auction last night. I was the winning bidder on a US Army Colt 38 Model 1901. The old soldier's cylinder does not lock up tightly but I'll fix that. It is now the oldest weapon in my collection.

My favorite Ruger revolver isn't listed: the original Bearcat. It's the first gun I ever bought, I still own it, and I still take it to the range from time to time.

They only one that doesn't interest me is the GP100. Nothing wrong with it, I just don't want another .357 Magnum.

Right now I'd like a .41 Mag Blackhawk, so Blackhawk won my vote.

I've got a new model Blackhawk convertible in .45 Colt with an extra cylinder in .45 ACP. It's Stainless steel with a 7.5" barrel. My brother owns the consecutively numbered twin of mine. Both have identical custom scroll engraving. They are sweet guns. I'd also love to get my hands on a stainless Super Redhawk .44 Mag with any barrel longer than 4 inches.

Were I forced to keep only one of my Rugers, it'd be one of the stainless 7.5" 41 mags. Which one would be the tough call.

I have owned two....Blackhawk in .45LC and a Redhawk in .44mag. I really loved them both....but would take the Redhawk.

I have a Super Redhawk "Alaskan" in .45 Colt/.454 Casull, a Redhawk in .45 Colt and two Bisley Acusport Blackhawks in .45 Colt. I plan to add a GP100 and possibly an SP101 next year. Luckily I don't have to pick just one (a ridiculous notion by the way), but if I did have to, I'd pick the Alaskan in .45 Colt/.454 Casull. It's just an amazing cannon of a revolver and there's really nothing like it.
