I just purchased a Ruger Security Six today, can't wait to shoot it. I got the 15-2 a month ago and have been loving it. Can't wait to shoot some stout .357 with the Ruger! Anyone have any opinions on the Ruger Security Six? It also came with a Hogue Monogrip. I paid $500, I was happy to but does that seem too high for today's prices?

You have two of my favorites there, not to mention that they're also both classic revolvers in their own right. Seems a trifle high but I still think you did just fine with the price of the Ruger. Enjoy!

You have two outstanding revolvers there. I will warn you though, you are heading down an expensive path. Once you get 'the bug', it's hard to control the urge to keep buying more and more excellent revolvers until one day you are out of money, and out of space. The good thing though is that unlike other vices, at least when you have run out of money you do still have all of the lovely lovely revolvers.

I have a twin to yours if it is a four inch barrel. Love mine but only shoot it in single action. Would someday like to have a trigger job done on it.

The price is on par with I have seen them the last year or so especially for stainless. Enjoy

I had a blued 6" sec six bought new in the 70's for around $200. Foolishly sold it a few years later. 4 years ago I picked up a SS sec six 6" for $400. And that was a great deal to me. So I think you did fine for $500. Would you rather have a extra $50 in your pocket or a Ruger in your holster. 5 years from now they'll probablye be be going closer to $600

I foolishly sold a 15, but at least I was smart enough to hang onto my SS.

Nice family pic.

So far I really find the SS fun to plink with in .357, I put the hogue mono grip on it, the original wood grips are just painful with full house .357 loads. It is comfortable and the trigger is really nice. That being said, if think the Model 15 is a better all around gun. The trigger is amazing and its just a dream to shoot. I also think it is just inherently more accurate, my groups are around 25% smaller with the model 15. The more I handle it the more I appreciate the workmanship on the Model 15. The Security Six is not a bad gun and I'm sure it will outlast the model 15.
