Ruger Security Six...price?

The only reason I'm thinking about this one at this price. Is the 6" Ruger Security Six seem like they are few and far between these days locally and I always wanted one in the 6".

Then you have made up your mind and quite frankly, it doesn't mean a tinker's damn what any of us think - to you this gun is worth the money so you should get it before you miss it and then regret your indecision. What it sells for across the country in a different neighborhood has no bearing on what it sells for in your area.

If you want it, like it, and can afford it, then get it

Runningman: Okay, but remember, you can check around. In some areas you can find people who will trade. Don't much care for dealers that won't haggle. Once you get the gun, you might consider a rebluing or, better, a hard chroming. See if you can post a photo of the gun if you buy it.

"You CAN'T... or you WON'T."

Can't. I'd bet my father can and he's 88. I'll ask him what it went for if I think of it Friday while I'm visiting my folks at The Home.

I finally got one about two months ago

And it is a 4in blue in about 95% and well worth the 10-22 I traded for it straight across. I would buuy another one in 6in for up to 375 if it was perfect but for a 95% one I wold only pay that OTD if they never come up in your area, which they probably don't as now revolvers seem to not only getting hot again, but the security six seems to have quite a following now and those who buy them seem to want to keep them forever like those of us here. I say so what if it is 75 bucks over priced, you might not have that oppertunity again for some time.

I've had one since the mid-eighties. A blue, 4" heavy barrel version, and to this day, that's the last one I'd give up. I put a Hogue monogrip on it to better fit my hand, and to me, it's perfect.

I've also shot it a lot for recreation. I've hand loaded mild loads for it, and shot hot .357s through it. It has worked flawlessly every time except once. (Apparently, you have to clean them on occasion.) It's a great revolver. Just thought I'd throw that in for what it's worth.

I do not bother haggling over $25 or $50 when I want something such as this. Did it early on and always regretted it. IF it is what you desire and priced in the ballpark, which it is, buy it. They are fine guns and brutally accurate IME. My wife's piece, which she laods with 129 gr 38 Special +P Hydra-Shok's, below. I have whacked a 10" gong at 100 yards quite readily with this piece.

The guys over at the S&W forum usually say something to the effect of "K frame handling with N frame durability." when speaking of the -six's. That is high praise.
The GP100's are nice, but not as nice as the -Six series guns IMHO.
