I am putting this out there in hopes that someone from ruger will see it and get the hint!!
I think it would make a great carry piece.

Oh, and ruger?....Christmas is coming!.....:D

Don't think there's enough room in an sp101 for this to work. A 5 shot GP would be cool though. Make it a mag like the S&W 69 with a three inch barrel and I'd be interested.

Jack Huntington will also do them. Right now, the problem is that the owner of only shop in the country that was doing rebores died and the future of the business is in question. Hamilton Bowen won't even accept work that will require a rebore.

Man oh man ... I've wanted a 3-inch GP with a five-shot cylinder in either .44SPL or .41 mag for forever. In fact, I'd buy one of each!

Both the gun makers and and ammo factories wrote the .44 Spl. off years ago. The .357 killed it. Then the .44 Mag killed it again. But if you handload it just might be the best self defense cartridge you can shoot. I have used it for USPSA and steel and bowling pin shoots for years and it works almost exactly like the .45 ACP. The ammo companies are perfectly happy and very busy selling consumers whatever the FBI or the Navy Seals or Jack Bauer is using in their high cap hoseguns this week - cause that's what people want.:scrutiny:

I really love the .44 special and have a soft spot for it. I shot more .44 specials in my S&W 629 than I did magnums. It is a great round but as others have said, there aren't very many choices in ammo for it without reloading.

A GP100 in .44 Special would be outstanding, even more so if it came from the factory that way. Probably wouldn't make it in .41 Mag. but it would be something else to dream about too.

I would buy a GP100 in 44 special: two great things that would go great together!

I think a GP can be formatted into a 5 shot .41 Mag. - or .44 Spl. On the .44 you might be limited to a rather thin forcing cone like S&W was on their L frame 696 just because the original frame design was for a .357 bore. But with reasonable loads it should be possible and would make a very good CCW revo.

I don't think a .44 special SP-101 would be possible, no way. You'd have to go up to at least a Security Six sized frame.

If Ruger does ever do anything like this, it would probably be on the GP100 frame. One of their 3" guns with the compact wood insert grips would make an awesome 5-shooter that could handle hot .44 specials with ease. :)

smaller diameter will fit in the single six cylinder. less pressure will be handled better with that small cylinder.
