I've got an early model Ruger Speed Six, 4" barrel, round butt. The serial number prefix is 150- then goes into the remainder of the number. The Ruger website shows the gun was made in 1974.
Did Ruger make Speed Six revolvers with a different roundbutt grip frame shape early on, then change it? I've heard that 150 prefix and down was one size and 151 up was another. Anyone know?
No Speed Six grips I've got fit properly. I've got Pachmayr Grippers that don't fit well as they extend above the top of the frame behind the hammer 1/4" or so.
I've got Pachmayr Compaq Professional grips with an open back. They fit like the factory wood pictured below..no fit.
I've got a set of Ruger factory Speed Six grips that extend too far above the frame behind the hammer, and they do not cover the backstrap sides near the top and down to the bottom. SEE PIC BELOW
I've been a member of the Ruger Forum since about 2003, but have not been able to sign on there off and on for the last couple of years and tire of messing with it.
Any answers? I know little about Rugers and would like some factory wood that fits this gun.
