I have been seeing rumors for a while about a SR40 coming soon. A member there posted that a distributor was told they could start taking orders. There is not a picture on it yet but there is a listing at gallery of guns with the specifications. http://galleryofguns.com/genie/default.aspx?item=3470

Now I'm wondering how long it will be before there is an SR40c

Enough of that nonsense. You want a comp gun, go buy one. It's a defensive piece. It's dirty, mean, upclose, personal, deadly diplomacy...not a friggin' Rolls Royce. DOWN WITH GUN SNOBBERY!!!!

That's good Tex. My early SR9 was a bit gritty at first but it smoothed out after a few hundred rounds as is very nice now. I heard the later models are a lot better out of the box.

I have a SR9 and love it. However I don't like the idea of using that frame for 40S&W.

Im totally with Altitude here...

People expecting Competition triggers on $400 guns. Thats just stupid.

That being said though, my Ruger SR9c has an AMAZING trigger... quite possibly the best factory trigger in any of my polymer guns. Im a major .40 fan and would like to get an SR40c.

what would be great too is if they released a .357 Sig barrel as well for us .357 sig lovers :)

I wonder if the SR40 will have the same shards-O-glass and pulverized granite feeling trigger?
Have you shot one of the newer sr9's or are you just referring to the first ones that came out because they really improved the recent ones.

If Ruger is putting the SR9c triggers in the new SR9's (and I would guess the SR40) like they say they are, I don't see why you have a valid complaint. I've never tried the old SR9 trigger, but the SR9c trigger is quite smooooth.

I am a died in the wool Ruger fan and have owned dozens through the years and still have several. I was excited to see Ruger finally introduce a slim centerfire semi-auto (I've owned 4 P series in the past). I could never warm up to the P series and finally concluded I don't like slide mounted safties.

So I go the LGS to buy an SR9 when they first hit the shelves. They had 2, both with incredibly gritty triggers; they were simply unacceptable for a descriminating shooter. These were so bad, I thought something was wrong with the gun(s). I don't care if a gun costs $200.00, there was no rational excuse for a trigger that rough. None. My guess is those early triggers hurt SR9 sales. As most know, Ruger had teething problems with some of the early SR9's, so I guess the trigger was a harbringer for me. Later found out it was a no-no to dry fire the SR9 w/o a snap cap.

So now I understand they basically copied the Glock trigger and from all accounts it's smoother. I haven't tried this version of the SR9. I may check out an SR40 since I prefer the 40 over the 9.

I'm thinking that by the time they are ready to release the compact version any teething problems they have with the larger caliber should be worked out.
