Ruger SR9?

Boarhunter,

Thanks for the trigger update. It sounds as though while it smoothed out a little that it's probably still not to my liking. I'm not super fickle about triggers (I think my M9 shoots great and it's a decent trigger / same with my G17's) but I can't deal with the multi-tension creep I got during the pull cycle on the SR9.

Keep us posted on the guns performance over the next few thousand rounds or so.

I thought the magazine safety was supposed to be easily removable or easily deactivated by the user.

I now have in excess of 700 rounds through this new gun, and I truly like it better each day.

Last night, I competed in a local IDPA match, using the Ruger under "competition" circumstances for the first time. In addition, I was using a leather IWB holster rather than a Kydex paddle holster I typically use. Even with new gun and different/slower holster type, I believe that I performed at least as well as I would otherwise have done were I shooting my Kimber Aegis Custom (at almost three times the price). The gun simply preformed well. And I see no reason why I can not run it faster in the future as I become more comfortable with it.

The trigger is smoothing up to my satisfaction, and since I do not intend to shoot "bull's eye" with it, I see no problem whatsoever in the trigger. What may seem a problem dry-firing in the store has not been a problem for me in practical shooting 700 rounds down the road.

The magazine disconnect safety was not as significant a problem as I first thought in shooting IDPA. After unloading, showing "clear," and dropping the slide on an empty chamber, I simply returned the magazine to the grip and dropped the firing pin on an empty chamber. It took all of an additional two or three seconds to accomplish (but a recommendation to all... before sticking the magazine back into the gun and pulling the trigger, give your Safety Officer at a heads-up what you are doing so he does not suffer a coronary!).

The bottom line... I continue to be much pleased.

Boarhunter

Ps: I too have heard the mag disconnect is easy to remove; I doubt I will do so as it personally causes me no heartburn as a practical matter.
