I recently purchased a new model super blackhawk. I'm wondering how much of a project it would be to change out the grip frame with the squared off trigger guard for one with a rounded triggerguard. It doesnt seem like there would be much to it at all but I'm wondering if theres more to it than I realize. Thanks for your input in advance.

Remove the grip panels.
Pull back hammer and insert a slave pin in the hole in the hammer strut.
Remove the 5 screws holding the grip frame on it.
Remove the grip frame carefully. (springs/small parts under it)
Exchange parts and reverse the order to re-assemble.

If you buy a new one, it will need locator pin and trigger spring and retention pin. It'll need fitting and finishing. Even one already used could require some fitting and refinishing.

You didn't say, but doing this is much easier on a stainless revolver then a blued one. Doing it on a blued gun is no more difficult too do, but may require refinishing. You can also use a stainless grip frame on a blued gun if you like the silver/blue cosmetic effect.

Ruger even used to offer the servirce. If you decide to do it, look at the Hunter grip frame. You won't even need new grips; you just lose the knuckle duster trigger guard.

I have 2 Rugers that I had fitted with Bislley grip frame/trigger/hammer both SS cost around $200 including the parts.Got those direct from Ruger.

If you have a blued in good shape,I wish I'd known before I hit gunbroker or I would have traded you a rounded for your square.Be really careful not to ignore the pawl spring while your lining up the parts. It's easy to pinch it if you're not watching whats going on.
