wow I saw on the ruger web sight they have a new rifle out called the predator which has a green stock which is my favorite color :) plus I didn't know they had a new caliber out in 6.5 creedmore which is way hotter than the 6.5x55 Swedish round I used to shoot and so this new cartridge looks to be very powerful in a shortaction gun. so is anyone playin with this new cartridge in 6.5creedmore?? and if so how you like it? ;)

Not sure what you mean by "hotter." From what I've read, the 6.5 Swede has a performance edge. Advantage of the 6.5 Creedmoor is that it fits in a short action. Downrange performance differences between the 6.5x55, 6.5 Creedmoor, and .260 Remington ought to be negligible, though.

Here's a good article that overviews the 6.5s: http://www.chuckhawks.com/6-5mm_family.htm

sorry about that I was meaning faster than the 6.5x55 I was reading some articals about this new cartridge bein faster and more powerful. so I hope this new round gets attention with the deer hunters and such! :)

6.5 Creedmore is not hotter/faster/etc than 6.5x55. The 6.5x55 can likely be loaded to higher velocities and energy due to larger case capacity.

The caveat in that is that most commercial 6.5x55 is downloaded to avoid blowing up older rifles such as Swedish Mauser 96 models, 6.5x55 Krags, etc.

A MODERN bolt action in 6.5x55 can likely be handloaded to higher velocities than 6.5 Creedmore from what I've read.

That being said, 6.5 Creedmore isn't a bad cartridge and compares favorably to 6.5x55 and .260 Rem.

I have a .260 and a couple 6.5x55s. My 6.5x55s are milsurps so I don't hot rod them.

My 5.56 Predator is a tack-driver and I love 6.5mm, so I am interested.
I'm currently havinjg a custom barrel made in 6.5x55 for my Savage 110.

Loaded to spec pressures the rounds are roughly equal with the 6.5x55 having an advantage with heavy bullets. Loaded to modern pressures, the 6.5x55 is more powerful all around (butwill not fit a short action).

PS. I'm not sure your definition of "new" but Hornady has been selling the Creedmoor for 8 years.

Agreed, the 6.5x55 has the edge over the Creedmore with modern pressure handloads, you can drive a 140gr to around 2900fps with a long tube and slow burning powders, even my 22" tube can push 80fps or so over the new short action. That said the Creedmore is an impressive cartridge and I would love to add one to the collection. 6.5s are my favorite, they fit very nicely between the .257s and .270s (both fantastic light-medium game getters) with better ballistics then either of them.
