Russian AK47 question on price?

For what it's worth, most of the AKs I saw in Vietnam had wood furniture and red bakelite mags. Some had folding stocks but the forearms were wood. Don't know where they originated.

Went with a Saiga rebuilt by a guy who is from Soviet Russia and the wood is from a Russian Armory. Rebuilt to look like the original. It turned some heads.

I read in July Obama made an executive order infringing on our right to bear arms through making it illegal to buy Russian AK47's from Russia but the ones already here you can buy. I saw a price for one which was $1300 were the other brands seem to cost $600. Was this always the case or is this price difference because of his executive decision? What were the price of Russian AK47's before? Also could getting a Russian AK47 be a good investment since price will keep going up? Is the ban gonna stick or temporary?
I would not bother. For $600 I found like new S&W MP .556 with sling, sights, alloy front hand guard with multiple rails, PG, combat light plus German 30 round steel magazine. There is no going wrong with this one and if something breaks S&W will fix it. If I wanted another 7.62x39 it would be VZ2008 from Palmetto Armory. You get rifle, 3 mags, sling, cleaning kit for $380 plus shipping.

Dude there's Russian saigas on slick guns.com still for like $599 get yourself a g2 trigger, interfuse stock and pistol grip. Do the conversion and you'll learn a lot about AKs. There is so much information out there about this and you'll have a blast if your a tinkerer. However you could also go on gunbroker and get a yugo for 500 get a great ak and call it a day.
