Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone can give me an idea on a fair price for a Russian Baikal Makarov in 9mm Mak with adjustable sights.
I have a line on one locally in excellent condition.
Already know what the Maks are in general and I had a Bulgarian one before - great little pistols that aren't half bad for CCW, generally inexpensive, and usually very reliable.
Just need to know what fair market value for one is these days.

Thanks.

About $175 at Last Gun Show

I saw one a couple months ago in "Almost New In Box" condition with spare mag and cleaning rod, no holster, and asking price was $175.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy a really nice used one - they're sturdy and made to take rough use, made well for what it was designed to do.

Yeah, I have one in .380, and have to agree, lots of value for your dollar, and compact enough to carry when your Colt or Glock won't fit.

I bought two last year, both were about $175 and 9x18 in caliber.

I ended up selling one to a friend and I kept the other one. Its my designated summer ccw and its been 100% reliable after many hundreds of rounds. I would buy another without hesitation if the price was right.

Bought mine for $175

about 4 years ago. Decided to get a Mak when the prices started to go up. Lately I've seen IJs for $225-300 range. I have Gunkoted mine. The rear sight is HARD to get off and on again!

Prices on some of the auction sites have gone up alot lately. A local pawn shop has a .380 model for $225 right now. I can remember finding them for $100 a few years ago. If I had known how much prices would go up, I would have bought alot more.

Thanks.
I figured someone on here could give me some advice on this.
Looks like the one I found is in the "fair" price range going by the estimates on here.
I'm thinking about buying it.

Pros
- great little gun, probaby reliable
- adequate power for my uses
- relatively inexpensive. And if I can negotiate the price a little, even better.

Cons
- It's not in the "plan". The plan is an SP-101, a full sized 9mm, and maybe something like a small Kel-Tec or J-frame for really concealed carry. Great as the Mak is, it isn't one of these.
- ammo selection locally sucks. I'd have to order it from somewhere if I wanted to actually have any ammunition around for it.

Gotta think this one over...

I have two Russian Commercial models. Fine guns, but I prefer the surplus Bulgies with the fixed sights.

If it were a .380 I would have bought it already - I know someone who can use one.
But the Mak is a little too stout for her IMO.

Why the concern with ammo availability? Unless you're planning for an end-of-the-world gun, you should be fine to order a few hundred rounds at a time through the mail, and just restock after a range day. No big deal, right?

The 9x18 is popular enough that it'll be around for a while. Still in use in Europe(CZ-83, etc).

Got mine for $95 a year ago. Pawn shop guy had no idea what he had other than it was a "Commie piece of crap."

Durable, accurate, reliable, what else do you want to know?

If you can get it for under $200 these days snatch it up.
