Rust on the Sig

Learned the old gun case lesson a long time ago, but if you must keep them in a gun case you can greatly prevent the rust, by first line the case with a 100% cotton flannel fabric, Walmart sells a baby blanket material that works fine, but about any fabric store will have some, also for handguns buy some 100% cotton socks and store them in there inside the lined case. Now if your case gets wet or seems damp you need to dry it and make sure that it is dry before you close you guns in it.

Update

just thought I'd post an update to this...

After much further reviewing and some more research, I'm about 99% sure the spots I described aren't rust, but rather maybe some other kind of harmless blemish. It hasn't spread or changed shaped, the texture is the same as the rest of the finish (buttery smooth) on the pistol and accordingly you can't scratch them off with anything.

Still not enitrely sure what they are (or even if they came from the factory or shipping and I never noticed), but I've made my peace with them not being rust. And unless I really look for them, I really can't see them anyway.

So, on the record, I retract my rust statement.

Thanks all

SIG's rust. That's what they do.

Says the guy that just had his M&P refinished due to rust!

m&p's aren't swimming in oil in the foam case from the factory...

Yeah, well maybe those S&W rust buckets should. Only my M&P's have started rusting, nothing on 5 Sigs.

It's steel, it rusts.
