Just bought this little J frame, my first S&W revolver.

The generic "Revolver: Modern Style" owner's manual says that S&W will not be responsible for "disassembly beyond the Field Stripping instructions in this manual."

I can't spot any "Field Stripping instructions in this manual."

Are there any? Should I just clean it without any disassembly?

Thanks

P.S. To other owners. The manual says you will void the warranty if you, among other things, clean the Ti or Scandium models' chambers or cylinder front face with abrasives.

You read the manual? :neener: I clean mine like any other revolver. No disassembly and just a little Hoppes 9 on a patch through the chambers and barrel followed by a boresnake.

No problems with the scandium or titanium cylinder.

I have a Ruger GP100 revolver that I sometimes take down per the instructions in the manual and clean/oil the hammer, trigger and interior parts.

Just wondering if there is a simple way to do the same with the S&W J frame from time to time. Takedown of the Ruger also makes it easier to clean the cylinder.

If it is a royal pain to strip the S&W, I'll clean it as is. Don't plan to shoot it much anyway, so it should not be a big problem.

Any tips or suggestions?
