has anyone here who owns a s&w revolver with the titanium cylinder had any issues with them as far as erosion? I'm looking at getting a 340PD no lock model. And will follow the no under 120gr magnum rules as well as the no cleaning with abrasives.

Has any owners here who have one of these had any issues with normal recommend use? I had a used 340PD that developed the problem or cylinder erosion. That being said I never disobeyed the cleaning or ammo restriction rules. But the previous owner/s may have. Thanks for any help.

No problems with mine, that i see. But it doesn't get fired/cleaned a lot. Its primary a carry gun. I use Hoppe's number 9 solvent and a bronze brush when i do clean it.

I shoot/carry my home cast 158 gr lswc (a no no) with 5.2 grs of Unique in 38 special.(not a mag chamber.)

For practice, i use an old M60.

Ya I bought a used one like that. Midway has the titanium cylinders for 130 I bought one and just traded out my old extractor star so didn't have to clock it even.

Have fired a few 1000s through my 986.
Steel challenge competitions.
No damage so far.
Most problems with these are due to over-aggressive cleaning with abrasives or harsh chemicals.
Trying to scrub off discoloration damages the cylinder's protective coating, then erosion begins.
I clean mine with MPro 7 and a soft nylon brush or cloth.
