S&W 3913 NL

Other than aesthetics, was or is there an advantage to the tapered dust cover? Obviously, since I bought an NL, it doesn’t bother me. I also don’t mind the gray grips, but do agree the black look better. That said, I saw some pics with wood grips. Those wood grips look better than both gray or black. Functionally, I have no idea. If they served better functionally, I might be able to convince myself to buy a set.

I do agree but about the shape but I do like the left side only decocker. Makes the gun flatter for carry. Enjoyed owning a 3953 for a while and traded it to someone who “had” to have it. My only 3rd gens now are a 3913 Ladysmith and a CS9.

I agree with the single sided de-cocker being a plus. I've taken the safety or the empty drum where the safety goes on the DAO models off of every 3rd gen I bought, just to change the springs and clean it out. They should have sold right side or left side versions.

I have several TDA 3rd gen guns, but I have come around to the slick slide DAO models. I had a CS9 once. Shouldn't have sold it.

Several years ago I found a new old stock 3913 LS in a shop that had been unable to move it in several years. {This was before the recent uptick of interest in 3rd gen S&W.} Still had dust on the box from being shoved in a corner and neglected. This one also came with the cloth Lady Smith carrying bag, if anyone remembers those.

Bought it for a good price and brought it home. They even threw in an extra Smith magazine that was still new in the
package. {Haven't opened it yet.}

I carry it from time to time.

It's home! That took a little longer than I had hoped. I cleaned it up a little and am looking forward to taking it to the range. The weather is starting to break here in MN so I should be able to get out soon. A couple observations: I have a couple Beretta DA/SA pistols. The triggers on those are smoother than this one. It is a longer trigger pull than I am used to. That said, I didn't break it down further than field stripping to clean it and there was a little bit of crud to clean up. Maybe that is not helping the feel of the trigger? It points really nice and holds my point of aim well. Looking for holster options now...

Standard gratuitous pictures of new gun! Enjoy!
