I have a S&W 3913 (pre-TSW), I am curious if it is possible to put on a different hammer so that it can be fired single action without having to rack the slide. If so could you please provide me with the part number for the spurred hammer.

As you know, you can pull the trigger part of the way back and cock the hammer the rest of the way with your thumb. I think that is why they put the serrations on the hammer at the top. It is dangerous but if you are just plinking, it is not bad. Why would you need to single action it in a defensive situation anyway?

I know what you mean and I would like the option as well. It is the same reason I want a 638 to replace my 642. I want to know if there is a hammer available as well.

albanian -

I have a 638 w/Crimson Trace Lasergrips.. Neat little firearm.

The Lasergrips really improve your accuracy in low light/night conditions. Check 'em out if you have any interest in such.

Best Wishes,
JP :D

As for the 3913, I bought one of those years ago. It is pristine and put away for my Son. It's his favorite of my little pile of firearms.

;)

I know all about that one. That is the same one my Dad purchased. I got the 642 and my Dad got a slightly used 638 with Lasergrips for about the same price as I paid for a new 642 ($380 more or less). I thought I got a good deal but when I saw his, I wanted it. It is a nice little shooter and the Lasergrips really help on the snubby because they do not point very well and have such short sight radius.

I've heard of a few people doing this with the 6900 series and 4516 series (4506 hammer) guns. I don't see why you couldn't put a 5900 series full profile hammer on a 3913. Should be the same.
