I was really ticked when S&W came out with the Lady Smith. My first thought was how do I get that lettering ("Lady Smith") off the side??? I wanted one so bad, but I couldn't very well go around with "Lady Smith" on the side on my auto...I don't care how deem my sensitive side had become. Why don't they just stick to the numbers and leave the P.R. people out of it?

Yeah, I know they came out with the 3913, but I also liked those Confederate-gray grips. I didn't want to get one because I was afraid someone would take it away from me and beat me up!

I hate Smith, and I ain't too crazy about Wesson!

.

Confederate they made the 3913nls with grey grips as well. It's the same gun as the lady smith without the lettering. Will Smit carried one in Men in Black.

I really would like to have one. But I'm Not going to pay these stupid jacked up prices. I've been looking local for a while and have seen only a few and they were all priced over $550. What are ya'll paying for used guns ? I was thinking more like $350 to $400 for a used 9mm . I know the are nice guns, thats why I want one.

Should I just keep looking in my price range or up the ante? Hell I can buy 3-inch J- frames in that range why pay like they're made of gold for the 3913 ?

Honestly, the price on these has risen as they become harder and harder to find. Some are more rare than others and fetch a premium. There is a full $200 spread between what I paid for my standard 3913 and my 3913tsw.

There are a few blued 3914 models on GB right now for <$400 and the 3953 (DAO) can be found for $450-$500.

Jbabbler, I'm looking for the type that you say you carry, bottom picture. I don't care for the CS 9 style. May settle on a blued version but don't see those either. I don't know about buying used off of Gunbroker. I like to look used guns over when buying them. I guess I'll just keep looking and might stumble across one, it's just I've been looking for quite awhile with no luck.

The really early ones had a phillips head screw that held the safety on.

Never saw a 3rd. Gen with the screw setup. It was only used when the ambi safety/decocker was specified although I beklieve that was made standard later in the production run.

Locktite/no locktite, the damm screw still fell out. The upside was that it didn't affect the operation of the firearm in any significant way. But replacing the lose ambi lever was expensive and a pain in the butt. We kept extras in stock, especially the screws. But ever after loctiting them, they still seemed to loosen up. The upgraded pinned design cured that.

One of the ambidextrous safety is kind of loose on my 3914. It is the pinned type not a screw as mentioned above. Does anyone have any idea how I could tighten it back down. It is not very loose, just a little bit of play in it.

hmmm, the left safety is part of the safety body. The right safety simply slides in to the dovetail after the plunger is pushed in. No adjustments there.

ok thanks, I just looked at it, and the play is coming form the right side of the safety. It is just where the piece that goes in to the dove tail, and it moves just a slight amount before it hits the side of the dove tail slot. No big deal, I just thought I might be able to tighten it up.

I'm not that familiar with working with guns, as you can see, but I'm trying to learn what I can.

I actually cut the body flush with the right side of the slide and polished it. I hate the ambi safety.

I've always loved these pistols. I will probably buy the next one I see that is at a reasonable price.

I actually removed the safety assembly, cut the body flush with the slide and polished it. I hate the ambi safety.

Did you cut off both sides, or just the right side?

Sorry, I went back and clarified my post. I only cut off the right side. It still has the safety on the left.
